Tailoring Design competition

In conjunction with Barnfield College, Art and Design department. I recently organised a competition where students had to show ability in both fashion illustration and working drawing.

Many thanks go to the staff of the college and especially to all the students who entered.

Congratulations go to the winner; Laura Hanley. These are Lauras winning designs.

This is a short profile of Laura, that she has written herself.

Laura Hanley

I have always been interested in art from an early age. I love to design and illustrate my ideas. I see myself as a creative person, and enjoy working to briefs where I can express myself, yet still work within the desired specifications.
I am currently studying for a Foundation Degree in Fashion and Textile Design at Barnfield College in association with the University of Bedfordshire. Within this course I am able to push myself to the limits with all aspects of design development, pattern cutting and production. This has given me the chance to learn in detail the different techniques that I can take forward in future work.
I have also completed a BTEC National Diploma in Fashion and Textiles, which gave me a great taste of all the areas of the industry.
In the future I would like to progress onto a top up year to gain a BA Honours Degree and work in the fashion industry in areas such as Design and Illustration, as these are the elements that I enjoy the most.
